Progression of TV Technologies—Infographic

The presence of a television in almost every home is very undeniable. For ordinary people to get in the loop of events and ideas outside the home walls has become life-changing. The invention of people in the yesteryears made it possible for the people of today to build on the foundations that they laid, and therefore innovations began.
As televisions in Cork and other parts of the world started to progress, the humble beginnings of how television came to life are always remembered as a way to commemorate the brilliant minds behind it. In this article are the early beginning and further innovations in the 21st century.
Though televisions started as a bulky boxed technology that projected black and white images, a colored television was made a reality in 1897 by German physicist Ferdinand Braun. He invented Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) that functioned using three electron beams with three different colors (red, green, and blue) guided by magnetic charges that form images on the screen.
In 1972, through the efforts of American inventor James Fergason, the first Liquid Crystal Display product. The world’s first modern LCD watch gave way for the invention of flat-screen TVs that most homes worldwide now have. Many households prefer purchasing televisions with this display technology as it uses less power which means more money is saved.
In 1987, the Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) technology was invented by Eastman Kodak. It was an innovation of the electroluminescence discovered in 1907.
OLED televisions in Henry Hoover Waterford work without backlights, and it’s what makes TV watching 100% eye-safe and enjoyable. In 2008, an improved version was introduced as AMOLED displays—this is a thinner and flexible version of the OLED display only with AM or active-matrix.
